McDonough County Genealogical Society

This corner home at 402 E. Poplar Street and S.

Hanna Street in Bardolph was built by J.B. Landis as his residence. J.B. Landis was one of our counties most prominent builders and contractors. He moved into Bardolph from Adair in late 1908. Having lived most of his life in McDonough County his honest reputation for building fine homes had reached other states, in building homes. He erected several residences and buildings in the early 1910s in the vicinity of Bardolph. James B. Landis moved to Macomb in 1934, where he resided with his son Earl. He was born in Brown County and married Alph Scudder.

Children from this marriage included Ed, Claude, Earl, Steril and George. This home still stands today.
