Macomb's new restaurant at 118 South Lafayette St. may seem oddly familiar.
Building owner Louie Sahyouni is back with his latest creation being 'The Breakfast House'.
Over the years the building has hosted Cookie's Diner, Louie's Diner, a Mexican restaurant, Cathy's and possibly even a couple we've forgotten.
Louie and his construction crew gave the building a complete remodel recently and opened for business on May 1. The refurbishing took close to a year and the finished product is tastefully done in pale yellows and dark grays. Even the kitchen equipment was replaced.

Right now The Breakfast House is open from 6am-2pm everyday of the week except Tuesdays.
Contrary to what the restaurant name implies, they also serve lunch, and eventually will possibly expand to serving evening meals.
Louie emphasizes his prices are $2-$3 lower than any comparable restaurant in Macomb. Anyone wanting to see a full menu can look for The Breakfast House's page on Facebook.
Examples of specials include country steak, hash browns, eggs, toast and coffee for $12.99. The Early Bird special from 6-9am comprises 2 eggs, meat, hash browns, toast and coffee for $11.40.
The Breakfast House is in search of good, qualified workers as this is the major reason that right now they have limited hours.
On Mother's Day Louie worked the kitchen all by himself and they were extremely busy. (He laughs and says it about killed him).
When Sahyouni is able to find more help, he plans on expanding hours and meal variations.
Groups are welcome-just call ahead. A separate dining room is available for parties and larger numbers of diners.
After things settle down Louie plans on getting the restaurant on DoorDash. Customers can phone orders in now and pick them up.
Stop by 118 South Lafayette and visit with the familiar face. At age 66 Louie is working as hard as ever to earn your business and hopefully loyalty.
As I left his restaurant Mr. Sahyouni thanked me several times for the newspaper's story. A very gracious and hardworking man, he is no doubt aware of the costs of advertising, and he was very appreciative of the Community Brief actually approaching him for a story.
Best of luck to Louie Sahyouni, I'll be taking my family to breakfast soon at The Breakfast House.
