Last week I told you that I poked the eye out of my phone with a rivet in my pocket. As I rely pretty heavily on my phone, headed to US Cellular on Monday with full intent to get a new phone. Learned rather quickly that “customer service” can depend entirely on who you connect with at the store. Even left the store but I really needed the phone and do not know where the next nearest US Cellular store is from Macomb so I talked with another customer who also was leaving. She told me her representative had been very helpful, so went back into the store. Got a new phone and most things switched over. Still am not able to get email on it but can check my email on the computer until I figure it out. As a very long-time business owner, I know exactly how important customer service can be.
The Antiques and Collectible Club met at the Western Illinois Museum for our regular meeting on Wednesday. It was a great meeting and well attended. Sue Scott showed us some things that were made in Macomb and noted just how important it is to also know as much of their story as possible. The museum is really nice and a lot of work has been done to make the space more usable and more comfortable. There are several different types of entertainment which also take place at the museum as well as art displays and so much more. Check it out if you have not done so already.
There will soon be a glass recycling bin at Farm King. All types of glass may be taken there. One needs to remove lids, corks and not put bags or boxes in the bin. You do not need to remove labels however. This will benefit the whole area. Our country desperately needs to do better with reusing products instead of just filling landfills with “garbage”.
This is Memorial Day weekend so I visited three cemeteries on Friday evening. Most of mother’s family is buried at the Argyle cemetery. Most of dad’s and my immediate family are at Colchester so they are close together. Also go to Macomb as a few family members are there. So glad that we now have pretty silk flowers to decorate with. There were some really nice live plants at Macomb also. Hope we have enough showers for them to thrive.
What does one do when a humming bird flies into your store building. Saturday I was unloading the last of the boxes from 3rd Sunday and heard a humming bird. Thought it sounded awfully close to be working the red flowers in front of the store. Eventually I discovered that it was inside the building. Propped open both doors hoping it would find its way out. It did not. Just could not leave it to parish so attached a dip net to the top of a flag pole as my ceilings are high. Spend over 1 ½ hours chasing the birdie around the ceiling. Finally noticed it was tiring so could not give up. Got it in the dip net and walked it out of the store. Somewhere there is a very tired male ruby throated humming bird which I hope will not fly into my store again.
Have a good week. Hope you took time to remember those who have gone on before us. Scatter Kindness and Love and try to help all of God’s creatures even when they make mistakes.
