The Macomb High boys track team finished ninth of 16 teams at Wednesday’s Illinois High School Association Class 2A Sectional meet held at Metamora.
Macomb finished with a team score of 28 points.
Mahomet-Seymour edged Morton 112-109 in capturing the team title.
Sophomore Marshaun Brown was the lone Bomber to qualify for next week’s Class 2A state meet.
He tied for sixth in the high jump, with an effort of 1.87-meters (6-feet, 1.5-inches). That matches the qualifying standard as set by the IHSA, allowing Brown to advance.
Other individual results for the Bombers included the following.
4x800-meter relay MHS (Demarco Cochran, Henry Lauer, Ashton Arauz and Xander Merritt), 12th, 10-minutes, 12.57-seconds.
4x100 - MHS (Jaron Petty, Kyler Glaue, Dami Famodu and Kylan McMillen), sixth, 44.98.
3200 - Eymen Tasdan, 19th, 12:01.74 and Cohen Hunt-Twomey, 22nd, 13;12.39.
110 hurdles - Atsard Aplogan, eighth, 16.40.
100 - McMillen, seventh, 11.30 and Daniel Taylor, 20th, 11.75.
800 - No entries. 4x200 - MHS (Taylor, Aplogan, Famodu and Marshaun Brown), fourth, 1:32.60.
400 - Jake Anderson, 23rd, 59.74 and Merritt, 27th, 1:02.50.
300 hurdles - Glaue, 10th, 42.91.
1600 - Tasdan, 25th, 5:25.41.
200 - McMillen, sixth, 23.14 and Aplogan, eighth, 23.40.
4x400 - MHS (Glaue, Taylor, Anderson and Cochran), 13th, 3:54.42.
Shot put - Charlie Bodiford, sixth, 14.16-meters (46-feet, 5.5-inches) and Kyler Cheatham, 17th, 11.76m (38-7).
Discus - Bodiford, third, 41.35m (135-8) and Cheatham, 25th, 25.74m (84-5).
High jump - Brown, tie for sixth, 1.87m (6-1.5).
Pole vault - Reed Lytle, tie for seventh, 3.13m (10-3.25).
Long jump - Petty, 22nd, 5.34m (17-6.25).
Triple jump - Anderson, 15th, 11.06m (36-3.5).
The top two finishers in each event, along with those meeting or exceeding qualifying standards as set by the IHSA in their respective events also qualify for state competition.
The IHSA Class 2A State preliminaries will be held May 30 at Eastern Illinois University in Charleston. The finals for all three classes will be conducted the following day.
