The mellow sounds of John Denver will fill The Legacy Theater in Carthage with “Take Me Home: A Tribute to the Music of John Denver” performed by Jim Curry, at 7 p.m. on Saturday, May 31.
Since 2002 the combined talents of Curry and his band have brought John Denver’s music back to thousands of fans, missed since Denver’s death in 1997. Curry is honored to have had John Denver band members join him since then in many performances around the country.
With his resemblance to Denver and a voice that captures the essence of his music, Jim Curry was selected as the singing voice of John Denver in the 2000 CBS Television Movie “Take Me Home, the John Denver Story.”
The tribute show is not just about the music. Curry shares personal stories and anecdotes about the man behind the music, giving fans a deeper understanding of Denver’s passion for the environment, his humanitarian efforts, and his love for the outdoors.
Curry also works behind the scenes to preserve Denver’s music. Most notable is his collaboration with Lee Holdridge in rebuilding and preserving Denver’s original symphony arrangements.
As Curry performs, audiences are taken back to the 1970s, reliving Denver’s iconic hits, including “Country Roads,” “Rocky Mountain High,” “Sunshine on My Shoulders” and the lovely “Annie’s Song.”
