Gerald McCance, 76, of Princeton, IL, passed away peacefully at 3:54 a.m. on Friday, May 16, 2025, at Liberty Village in Princeton, IL.
He was born on February 15, 1949, in Bushnell, IL, to Wendel and Ida Mae (Ford) McCance. On June 12, 1970, he married Carolyn Mae Yelton in Bushnell, IL. She survives.
Gerald is also survived by two daughters, Lisa (James) Boyd of Princeton, IL and Libby McCance-Hackney of Eureka, IL; six grandchildren, Alexis Fox, Kandi (David) Baker, Megan (Justin) Zirbes, Mason McCance, Abe McCance-Hackney, and Norah McCance-Hackney; and three great-grandchildren, Jace Franklin, Dante Baker, and Millie Zirbes. He is also survived by four sisters, Glenna (Mike) Emmert, Peggy Kirby, Janet Draughn, and Robin Ebbert, all of Bushnell, IL.
He was preceded in death by his parents and three brothers- in-law: Jack Kirby, Harv Draughn, and Dean Ebbert.
Gerald began his career at Vaughn & Bushnell Manufacturing. In 1983, he moved his family to Princeton, where he followed his passion for motorcycles by opening McCance Yamaha, which he operated until 1986. He then founded McCance Trucking, which he owned and operated until his retirement. Although he ran a Yamaha dealership, Gerald’s true love was Harley-Davidson motorcycles. A devoted enthusiast of the motorcycle lifestyle, he cherished taking annual road trips with his family, creating lifelong memories on two wheels.
Cremation rites have been accorded. A memorial service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, May 23, 2025, at Martin- Hollis Funeral Home in Bushnell, with Pastor Jim Eddy officiating.
